The GM Heritage Center
Monday, January 14, 2013
This facility houses a rotating display of one-off concept cars, Autorama feature cars, significant production milestone cars, race cars, and significant engines from GM's history.
This is the 1938 Buick "Y Job", the very first "Concept Car". I was interested to note that it was used for more than just shows: the odometer shows over 25k miles!
Fins were big in the 50s. The Le Sabre (left) was the first Autorama feature concept, debuting at the 1951 show.
The Cadillac Cien concept. At right is photo I took of it at Pebble Beach Concours in 2002.
The Cadillac 16, featuring a 1000 hp V16, essentially 2 Corvette LS7 427 engines melded together!
