A last minute addition to the schedule!
Saturday Sept. 17
Departing Decatur. A late start, by recent standards, at 5:36!
The scene in the Oak Grove KY Walmart parking lot. Busy!
Phil Reed of Meguiar's provided this great spot, right next to the free drinks!
I finally spotted Barry ("Car Crazy") Meguiar right across the lane.
Some time later I got him to our display and he autographed the left cover.
That's him, right above the "C".
OK, Meguiar's show is a wrap; On to Funfest in Effingham IL. This was another last minute decision. I hadn't been to Funfest since 2002, the last time I was invited. The 10th anniversary of 9/11 last weekend had me thinking. On 9/12/2001 I was on the road from Maine to Funfest. To say it was a memorable trip would be an understatement. I decided I should go back, if only to thank Mike Yager for that inspirational weekend. See link.
Leaving Oak Grove for Effingham.
Sunday, Sept 18
I got there too late Saturday to see much. Sunday morning was very quiet; rain scheduled to start mid-day. I caught 2 seminars with Dave McLellan and Fred Gallasch.
Then I spotted my Celebrity Pick from Carlisle last year, with Kathleen Huber at the wheel. Always great to see her! On the dash was a VETTE Magazine that I had not seen, open to a page featuring BOTH her Vette and mine! Gotta see if I can get a back issue...
Oh yeah, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile!
And who comes walking by it but Corvette authors Jerry Burton and Jerry Heasley.
A couple of Mike Yager's "Barn Find" Vettes
And his C5 development mule.
Time to head home; the storm is about to hit...
Back in Sweet Home Alabama!
