"Breakfast, Ben & Back Roads"
Springfield, VT
June 5, 2004
All you can eat breakfast buffet all morning (with me) at the Precision Valley Corvette Museum/Springfield Royal Diner. This was followed by a back roads cruise through that scenic area.
This was my room at the Hartness House
in Springfield Friday night. Classy - thanks Matt!
Saturday morning, after washing the car across the street,
I joined the crowd at the Diner for a great, all-you-can-eat breakfast.
A little after noon, we embarked on a beautiful, scenic drive
through what turned out to be horse country.
We stopped on the town common in Woodstock (VT, not NY!)
for some more sightseeing for some, shopping for others.
While on foot there, a Pantera, traveling with a Z06 Vette,
pulled in to see what all the Vettes were about.
Back on the road again and through a covered bridge, to the Pierce Glass Works
in Quechee, and finally to the Antique Mall near the Quechee Gorge.
After scouring the mall, the happy group scattered for home.
I had planned to go down to Shrewsbury, MA for the Corvettes United show the next day at Hebert's Candy Mansion, but the weather forecast and reports from some folks who had come from that area didn't sound promising for Sunday. As I headed south, I left a phone message for the Corvettes United president asking to be notified right away if they decided to go with the rain date of the following Sunday. When I got to Manchester NH and hadn't gotten a call back, I mentally flipped a coin, which told me to turn East and go home.
Good decision: I had only been home a couple of hours
when I got the call - postponed until the 13th.
